With Lizzie and some of the Market Colors team about to embark on a trip to visit some of our craftsmen in Africa next week, we're excited to introduce you to another member of the Blue Door craftsmen team.
Who: Beatrice Where: Gulu, Uganda With: Blue Door
Taking a trip back to Gulu, Uganda, we have met two women with SOVCO’s Blue Door project, Stella and Lilly. Today, I want you to meet another lovely woman who is incredibly passionate about what Blue Door is doing to help families earn a sustainable income. This is Beatrice. At 38 years old, she is mother to three-year-old twins. She also supports two children without parents to provide for them. She and her husband, Ojek Premas, work in multiple fields to support their family. Trained in tailoring, Beatrice is also a peasant farmer and a bead maker. She began with Blue Door as treasurer and bead maker in November of 2011 when the program started. Beatrice desires that her bead making will allow her to provide education, health care, and other living needs for all of her children. Through Blue Door, Beatrice wants to expand her bead making skills through more training. We love that Beatrice is so enthusiastic and passionate about her work with Blue Door. She has taken an opportunity that God has presented her with and embraced it wholeheartedly.
