5 Wonderful Ways to Spend a Rainy Day

Lizzie Randazzo

by Robyn Batts

In late summer, you can pretty much count on that faithful rainstorm every afternoon. A day stuck inside with no plans can be a real bummer, so here are some easy ways to make the most of a rainy day at home!

1. Build a fort

Why should these end with elementary school? I say they don’t have to! You likely have all the supplies you’ll need tucked away in your closet. What could make a rainy day cozier than your own little haven made of blankets and pillows?

2. Watch Once

Everyone has their list of go-to movies, and this one is definitely at the top of mine. It’s a modern day musical that follows the sweet story of a young man and woman in Ireland who cultivate a relationship through their shared love for music. The characters are captivating and the songs are beautiful. If you’re really into making your rainy day amazing, watch it from inside your cozy fort!

3. Bake Cinnamon + Sugar Pull-Apart Bread

Few things are as wonderful as the warm smell of cinnamon wafting through the air. You’ll certainly need a tasty snack for your rainy day in and I suggest this Cinnamon + Sugar Pull-Apart Bread. It's warm, comforting, and likely tastes even better while cozied up during a storm.

Days stuck inside are perfect for getting creative! Check out our DIY post from a couple weeks ago and learn how to make your very own watercolor art. It only requires a few supplies and you can customize it to fit your style!

{C}5.     {C}Make a Goal Organizer

We all have things we want to accomplish. We rarely take the time, however, to sit down and go through them. Rainy days offer free time and a relaxing environment--the perfect recipe for some introspective and inspirational time. I love these printable goal organizers from The Nectar Collective that can help you visualize and prioritize your goals. They also include a place for you to specify the time frame you'd like to accomplish your goals in. They're motivating, practical, and a positive way to spend some of your rainy day time!
